Life In All Its Fullness
I came so that everyone would have life, and have it in its fullest.
John 10:10
Here at Colwick St John the Baptist CofE Primary Academy our vision is routed in the teaching of Jesus from the book of John 10:10. I came so that everyone would have life, and have it in all its fullest.
We believe that this passage accurately reflects the commitment we provide for all of our St Johns families. And that is exactly what we are; a family. Regardless of starting points or faith, we prepare our pupils to experience a full life now, and into the future. Whether it be through our stimulating academic curriculum, our engaging values based Collective Worship program, the exciting extra-curricular experiences we offer, or the sense of community we develop through our pastoral care, our commitment is to see each and every member of our school community flourish, achieve, and feel a sense of belonging. Once you become part of the St Johns family, you are always part of the St Johns family.
Therefore our mission is this: A community where children can flourish, achieve, and belong, now and into the future.
As a Church of England school we uphold the CofE’s values and entwine them with our own. These values impact our vision by underpinning our Collective Worship program, and the intent of our curriculum. We celebrate and praise members of each class who have demonstrated our focussed value.
We take one of our values each half term and explore it. We reward our children for showing it and make links to where they were shown in the Bible.
We spend our first, full term on ‘love’ as we believe our ability to show and feel love underpins all that we do.
Our Christian Values are:
- Love
- Forgiveness
- Thankfulness
- Hope
- Resilience
- Self-discipline
- Wisdom
- Humility
- Justice
- Encouragement
Our theme for this half-term is Forgiveness
The contemporary person who we are learning about who has shown this value is Nelson Mandela.
